Supporting refugee employment in our community
What CWR does to support employability
Many of those we encounter in our activities are keen to find work as soon as they can. We support their employability in a number of ways:
Our employability support group builds links with local partners and shares information with our community and employers by bringing together information on our website.
Together with Cheltenham Volunteer Teachers, we run English Language classes taught by qualified teachers four days each week.
We run a weekly Driving Theory class to prepare adults for the DVSA UK Driving Theory test, which also serves as a language learning opportunity.
We are grateful to our longstanding partner Ecctis (https://ecctis.com/) for supporting us with their expertise in translating qualifications across borders and our many local partners, many of whom we have listed under the many resources for people seeking employment.
For up to date information on local resources and current opportunities, please visit our Employability Resources page.
Success Stories
We asked some successful job seekers to share their journeys of finding employment in the UK, after being forced to move here from other countries. Having overcome the difficulties associated with adapting to a new life and culture, they have shown great determination, working extremely hard and bringing their experience from successful careers in their home countries.
