Employability Success Stories

B’s Story

“I'm a teacher, a graduate of the best university in my country, with over 10 years of experience working with children, teenagers, and adults. Arriving in an unfamiliar country, unable to communicate, has been the biggest challenge of my life. Learning English is a daily struggle. When I arrived, I could only say my name, my age, where I was from, and my date of birth. The process has been slow, difficult, and sometimes discouraging.”

Sola’s story

I am a Syrian national and a qualified Computer Engineer. I left Syria in 2011 due to the war and moved to Lebanon, where I worked for an organisation from 2015 until March 2023 in several roles, including Computer Science Tutor, Educational Technology Specialist, and later Administrative Supervisor.

Rim and Rami’s stories

We came to Cheltenham in 2018 from Lebanon having left Syria because of the war there.

We are each professionally qualified and we each wanted to gain long-term professional employment in the UK to provide a safe and secure future for ourselves and our children, to fully integrate into the community, and to contribute to the economy.
